1 . Asta and yuno


Hundreds of years ago a great demon was defeated by a mage who became the Clover Kingdom's first Wizard King. Two babies named Asta and Yuno are abandoned and raised by Father Orgi and Sister Lily. 15 years later the boys have grown up as brothers in the Clover Kingdom where all people are able to perform magic with personal spell books called Grimoire’s. Yuno has become a quiet boy with a strong affinity for wind magic, whereas Asta has become outgoing and competitive but has yet to show any magical ability and has relentlessly trained his body instead. They both desire to become the next Wizard King. Asta and Yuno attend a magic ceremony to receive Grimoire’s suited to their abilities. Each Grimoire has a picture of a 3 leaf clover on the cover symbolising Integrity, Hope and Love but Yuno receives an extremely rare 4 leaf Grimoire which symbolises Luck, angering the nobles who all treat commoners with contempt. Asta is humiliated when he does not receive a Grimoire. Yuno is attacked by a disgraced ex magic knight intent on stealing the 4 leaf Grimoire. Asta is badly beaten by the thief who mocks his lack of magic. Asta’s determination to win summons a black Grimoire with a legendary 5 leaf clover which, supposedly, symbolises the Devil.

2 . A Young man,s vow


Yuno recalls growing up with Asta who always looked after him, despite Yuno being the one with magic powers. Asta spends most of his time trying to convince Sister Lily to marry him but is constantly rejected. They are both inspired by tales of the first Wizard King and Asta declares he will become Wizard King one day. Yuno is asked to deliver an important letter to the chief of the next village but is attacked and beaten by a thief on his way home who takes the necklace he was found holding as a baby. Yuno becomes too scared to fight back with his magic. Asta attacks the thief with his bare hands, receiving many injuries but ultimately getting the necklace back after the thief becomes bored. Yuno decides to become as brave as Asta and announces he will be Asta’s rival and become the Wizard King before Asta does. In the present Asta uses his black Grimoire to summon a giant black sword with which he cuts through the thief’s magic and defeats him with one overpowered slash. Asta and Yuno reaffirm their promise to remain friendly rivals until one of them becomes the Wizard King.

3 . To The Royal Capital

Asta and Yuno both train their new abilities relentlessly in preparation for the Magic Knight Selection exam, hoping to earn a place in one of the Magic Knight squads, nine squads of mages who use magic for combat under the command of the current Wizard King in defence of the Clover Kingdom. Asta and Yuno’s rivalry reaches new heights of childish competitiveness. Father Orgi and Sister Lily hold a going away party, congratulating Yuno on his likely future success and subtly reminding Asta that when he fails he can always return home. One of the orphans, Nash, tells Asta that if he manages to become a Magic Knight it might mean everyone’s dreams can come true, even the dreams of commoners and orphans. Asta and Yuno depart for the Capital City, a journey of several days on foot, continuing to train as they travel and both growing far stronger than they were, though Yuno still manages to outperform Asta using magic to accomplish tasks Asta must use strength and skill for. They arrive at the capital city and the magic knight exam, where success involves proving themselves more powerful than the other magic knight candidates.

4 . The Magic knights Entrance Exame

Asta and Yuno register for the exam and learn Yuno is already famous for receiving the 4 leaf grimoire. As commoners Asta and Yuno are automatically looked down on by the noble candidates. The exam hall is filled with Anti-birds that are more attracted to a person the less magic they have. Asta is harassed by an entire swarm of Anti-birds while Yuno is ignored by them altogether. Asta is approached by Sekke Bronzazza, an arrogant noble candidate who offers to help Asta with the exam. As the exam progresses Yuno outperforms every other candidate and Asta fails miserably while Sekke shows off his skill at Asta’s expense. The final test is to be one on one duels and Sekke chooses Asta as his opponent, revealing to Asta his total contempt for his lack of magic and his own desire to become a Magic Knight purely for the easy lifestyle. As the duel begins Sekke summons a magic shield hoping Asta will embarrass himself trying to get past it, however Asta summons his sword and cuts the shield in half, knocking Sekke unconscious while repeating his promise to achieve his dream and become the Wizard King.

5 . The Road To The Wizard King

Despite his easy victory Asta is mocked by the candidates for his dream to become Wizard King. Yuno is likewise approached by an arrogant noble candidate, Salim de Hapshass, who is confident that his skill and power will be far superior to a commoner. Salim uses his most powerful spell, intending to humiliate Yuno, only for Yuno to defeat him effortlessly. With the duels concluded the squad captains decide which candidates they want. Many candidates fail and are sent home. Yuno is selected by all nine squad captains, which is unheard of, and joins the Golden Dawn, which usually only accepts Royals and nobles. Asta is almost sent home until Yami Sukehiro, the intimidating captain of the Black Bulls, accepts him. Sekke, having only been accepted by a less famous squad, the Green Mantises, decides to get revenge and summons a lizard whose poisonous bite would cripple Asta for life. However, Yuno destroys the lizard and Sekke flees. Asta is taken to the Black Bulls Hideout and rushes inside to introduce himself, only to be struck by a magical explosion. As he is thrown backwards Yami welcomes him to the Black Bulls, the worst magic knight squad in the kingdom

6 . The Black Bulls

Yuno is taken to Golden Dawn headquarters and is greeted coldly by Klaus Lunette, a Golden Dawn Knight who doubts a commoner like Yuno is worthy of Golden Dawn. Asta finds the explosion was caused by two Black Bull Knights brawling and several other knights exhibiting various odd behaviours. Yami proves his might by bringing them all to heel with a single furious glare. Asta learns that while he has been accepted into the Bulls he has yet to earn his robe. Yami puts him through a series of physical tests, proving that Asta’s physical abilities are way above normal. Finally Asta is ordered to duel with Magna Swing, a young Knight who specialises in casting fireballs with a flaming baseball bat. Asta instinctively strikes the fireball with the flat of his sword, preventing it from exploding and returning it at Magna Swing who is almost blown up by his own spell, impressing him mightily. Asta is enthusiastically welcomed to the Black Bulls and receives his own robe with the Black Bull symbol. Asta is observed throughout by an individual Anti-bird who has been following him and by a young lady who is the Black Bull’s second new recruit.

7 . Another New Member

Asta and Yuno both write letters to the orphanage who are surprised but proud that Asta became a Magic Knight alongside Yuno. Asta meets the other new recruit who turns out to be Noelle Silva, youngest daughter of the Silva royal family and sister to the Silver Eagles captain. She immediately labels Asta “little insect commoner”. Asta stands up to her, causing her to attack him with water magic, only for her spell to miss him completely. She angrily quits the Black Bulls. Later Asta sees her practising and realises she is unable to control her magic at all. Noelle remembers her family calling her a disgrace and refusing her entry to the Silver Eagles, the squad her family has belonged to for generations. When she realises Asta saw her fail to control magic she becomes so upset she accidentally traps herself in a gigantic water bubble and begins drowning. Yami solves the problem by throwing Asta at the bubble, whose sword cuts through the spell, nullifying it and saving Noelle. When Noelle realises Asta admires her power and that the Bulls accept her despite her lack of control she re-joins the squad and begins calling Asta by his name.

8 . Go Go My First Mission

 As the Bull’s newest recruit Asta is given all their household chores such as cleaning, laundry and waking captain Yami every morning without being murdered. Noelle, despite being the same rank as Asta, does no chores at all. Asta realises he has no idea what Magic Knights actually do and the explanations provided by the Bulls are useless. Yami takes Magna with him on a dangerous mission, which turns out to be their code word for gambling. They lose everything at poker, including their underwear, to the chief of Saussy village who agrees to forgive their debt if they do something for him. Yami gives the task to Magna, Asta and Noelle so they can gain experience, though really he just does not want to do it himself. They are to deal with a pack of boars causing problems for Saussy village, giant bad tempered boars that can shoot fire magic. Magna flies Asta and Noelle to the village, though Noelle pushes Asta off Magna’s modified flying broomstick, Crazy Cyclone, for gripping her around the waist without warning. Meanwhile a group of evil mages arrive at Saussy village, led by the rogue ice mage, Heath Grice

9 . Beasts


Grice and his mages enter Saussy village looking for a certain magical stone. After Asta manages to kill the boars they head to Saussy village. Magna reveals that in his youth he was a troublemaker but was always defeated by the Saussy chief who eventually convinced him to join the Magic Knights. They reach Saussy but find it surrounded by a mist barrier. Asta uses his sword, which has the ability to nullify any magic, to dissipate the mist. They reach the villagers just as Grice attempts to execute them. Magna protects the villagers but his friend the chief had already been killed. Grice attempts to crush them with a giant ice ball which Asta then slices in half. Grice attacks with ice spikes from every direction and despite Asta and Magna’s best effort several villagers are injured. Noelle tries to attack Grice but misses her target again forcing Asta and Magna to protect her. Overcome with shame and fear Noelle almost leaves the villagers to die, but when a terrified young girl begs for help, Noelle’s instinct to protect others unlocks a new spell in her Grimoire, a giant water shield that protects the villagers from the ice.

10 . Guardians


Asta lunges at Grice but his sword only grazes Grice’s ribs instead of impaling him. Asta is repeatedly stabbed with ice pillars. Magna recalls the people from his village being proud when he became a Magic Knight and that the Saussy chief gave him the pouch he uses to carry his Grimoire. Determined to help he uses all his remaining magic to cast fireballs at Grice and his mages. Grice blocks most of them but several fly past him which Asta them strikes with the flat of his sword, the move he used against Magna to earn his Bull’s robe, and the reflected fireballs strike Grice and his mages from behind, defeating them, though one mage manages to escape. Asta falls asleep from exhaustion and Noelle blushes as she admits to herself he is kind of amazing. The Anti-bird, who had been secretly hiding inside Asta’s robe, finds the stone Grice was looking for. Grice kills himself and his mages to avoid interrogation. The Anti-bird keeps the stone and starts living on Asta’s head permanently. Elsewhere Grice’s master decides he can retrieve the stone later as he prepares for “the Resurrection”. It is shown he wears a Golden Dawn robe.

11. What Happened One Day In The Castle Town


The Wizard King presents the Black Bull’s with a star for saving Saussy. Stars represent achievements in service to the Clover Kingdom which the nine magic squads compete to earn. The current champions are Golden Dawn with 70 stars, while the Black Bulls mess up so often they have negative 30. Asta receives his earnings for the month of 200,000 Yul (Clover Kingdom currency) which Noelle considers pocket money while to Asta it is a vast sum. Noelle learns of Asta’s crush on Sister Lily and becomes irritated. Asta sends most of his money home to the orphanage. The Bulls spend the day in town indulging their various hobbies. Vanessa Enoteca, a beautiful Black Bull member who wears revealing clothing and is frequently drunk, takes Noelle and Asta to the Black Market. Despite her distaste for the criminal atmosphere Noelle tries to find items that might help her control her magic. Sekke, who now only performs minor jobs for the Green Mantises and has become a gambling addict, attempts to flirt with Noelle and Vanessa but is irritated when he learns the two beautiful ladies are with Asta. A thief steals an old man’s bag and Asta rushes to catch him.

12. The Wizard King Saw


Sekke chases the thief as well who flees on a magical cloud. Asta throws his sword through the cloud, nullifying the magic. Sekke tackles the thief, desperate to steal credit for the capture but is stabbed in the foot by a poisoned dagger. He says his dramatic last words to Asta, only for Asta to smack him for giving up so easily, especially as the poison was just a skin irritant. Sekke takes the thief to the authorities while Asta returns the woman’s stolen property. As they leave the woman transforms into Julius Novachrono, the current Wizard King, who, as a shameless magic nerd, is intrigued with Asta’s unheard of Anti-magic. Yuno is on his first mission with Klaus and second new recruit Mimosa Vermillion, another royal like Noelle, acting as security for Salim de Hapshass, the noble Yuno defeated in the exam. Klaus is suspicious of Salim requesting Yuno since his defeat meant no squad wanted him. Salim learns Yuno came from Hage village. They are attacked by bandits so Salim suggests they spend the night in Hage, which just happens to be nearby. Yuno is welcomed home enthusiastically by everyone and Salim insists they can stay a while.

13 . The Wizard King Saw CONTINUED


Sister Lily is kidnapped by the bandits. Yuno realises the bandits wanted him, not Salim. He finds Sister Lily with the bandits in Asta’s hideout under the giant demon skull. The leader demands Yuno’s 4 leaf Grimoire. Klaus and Mimosa defeat the bandits in an ambush. Klaus reveals Mimosa interrogated Salim with Plant Creation magic, summoning a plant that speaks its victim’s thoughts. Salim wanted revenge for losing against Yuno in the exam and hired the bandits to steal the Grimoire. Klaus accidentally reveals he respects Yuno’s abilities. Yuno offers to free Salim if he stays away from Hage village. Salim tries to kill Yuno so Sister Lily furiously knocks him out. One bandit goes missing and is revealed to be the Wizard King in disguise, having taken one bandits place so he could observe Yuno. The Wizard King learns from Salim that his father, a high ranking politician, is corrupt and awards the Golden Dawn a star for exposing him. Klaus suspects Golden Dawn’s leader, William Vangeance, knew about Salim’s father beforehand. Asta learns Yuno also earned a star on his first mission. A new mission becomes available and the Wizard King knows exactly who to give it to.

14 . Dungeon


An unexplored dungeon appears near the Clover Kingdoms border with the hostile Diamond Kingdom. The Wizard King decides to send Magic Knights there to protect any treasure and magical artefacts. The Bulls name Asta’s Anti-bird Nero, the only name Nero likes. The Wizard King requests Asta explore the dungeon. Yami sends Noelle so she can gain experience and Luck Voltia, a cheerfully deranged Bulls member who constantly seeks out powerful opponents. Nero tags along on Asta’s head. Noelle becomes scared inside the dungeon and clings to Asta. The dungeon is revealed to be a confusing nonsensical labyrinth. Luck and Noelle claim the entire place is overflowing with mana and full of magical traps Asta cuts through to protect the panicking Noelle. Luck senses other people and rushes towards the one with the strongest mana hoping for a good fight. Noelle learns about Yuno from Asta then becomes embarrassed when she realises she is alone with Asta, accidentally triggering a carnivorous plant trap that tries to eat them. They are saved at the last second by Yuno, who along with Klaus and Mimosa, was also given the quest to explore the dungeon by the Wizard King.

15 . The Diamond Mage


Vangeance believes it is crucial Yuno become stronger. Klaus accuses Asta of lying about receiving a star and being given a mission by the Wizard King. Noelle is annoyed to see Mimosa, her cousin. Golden Dawn leave to explore the dungeon. Asta is proud of how much Yuno has improved but is determined to reach the treasure room first. As Asta and Noelle become lost Nero somehow knows the right direction. Yuno angrily warns Klaus about insulting Asta as he is far stronger than he appears. The Wizard King learns Diamond Kingdom mages lead by Lotus Whomalt, a smoke manipulation mage, have entered the dungeon. Luck is revealed to have defeated the mages but is troubled by Lotus’ smokescreen. He manages to scratch Lotus’ face and becomes more deranged as the fight continues. Lotus reveals he once duelled with Captain Yami and received a large scar on his chest. Luck is hit by Lotus poison gas and loses control of his body. Golden Dawn reaches the door to the treasure room but Mimosa is injured by a crystal manipulation mage from the Diamond Kingdom. Far from being defeated Luck turns completely mad and attacks with even more powerful lightning magic.

16 . Friends


As children Asta and Yuno discuss what it means to be a family. As a child Luck was considered abnormal for constantly smiling and was abused by his mother until he discovered his lightning magic and defeated a noble. This made his mother start treating him lovingly, making him promise to keep winning no matter what. Luck attacks Lotus again but is trapped in a smoke cage. Klaus is almost killed by Mars, the crystal mage, while Luck is almost executed by Lotus. They are saved by Yuno and Asta respectively, who both declare they will protect their new friends. Luck remembers that he couldn’t even stop smiling at his mother’s funeral and insists on fighting alone so his mother will love him. Asta, however, refuses to let him and Luck realises he has friends and is not alone anymore. Yuno succeeds in casting two spells simultaneously to take down Mars. Luck realises Lotus can sense their magic and thus their location inside his smoke and uses teamwork to formulate a plan using Asta’s lack of magic for a surprise attack. Lotus is heavily injured while Mars survives Yuno’s spells by summoning an enormous crystal sword to defend himself.

17 . Destroyer


Lotus flees from the Bulls. Klaus sees Mars has crystals embedded in his skin and recalls that the Diamond Kingdom had tried to produce stronger mages through human experimentation and fights to the death. Mars, who wields a two colour Grimoire, is the result of the experiments. Yuno draws strength from his memories of Asta’s determination and refuses to surrender. As Yuno is about to die Asta appears and slices the giant crystal sword in half. Luck smashes Mars’ crystal warriors while Noelle casts her water shield around Mimosa, keeping her safe while she heals. Klaus refuses to believe that Golden Dawn mages were saved by Black Bull mages. With his Anti-magic and sheer strength Asta overpowers Mars. Noelle tells Klaus to accept it because whether he likes it or not Asta is, in his own way, far stronger than any noble. Asta is crushed between two chunks of crystal and badly injured while Mars reappears inside giant crystal armour. Klaus upon seeing Asta’s muscles realises how much he must have trained to fight against Mars without magic. Mars has flashbacks to a girl from his childhood and tries to destroy Asta. Asta smashes the armour apart, knocking Mars unconscious.

18 . Memories Of You


Mars is restrained with magic. Noelle blushes when she sees Asta’s clothes are ripped and he is half naked. The treasure room is filled with magic artefacts. Yuno picks up a scroll containing a spell which reacts to his Grimoire before disappearing. Nero tries to direct Asta to a golden seal on the wall but is ignored. Klaus learns Mars’ Grimoire is two Grimoire’s stitched together. It suddenly flies out of his hands and returns to Mars who can use two types of magic, not just one. Mars memories suggest the girl from his childhood was another test subject he was friends with but was forced to kill in a duel. Noelle is injured and Asta is blasted through the golden seal into another room. Mars states his belief that only the strong should survive. Asta wakes to find Nero sitting atop a second black sword. He seizes it and instantly defends Mimosa and Noelle from Mars’ as the new sword is smaller and faster. He receives encouragement from Noelle and the sword suddenly absorbs her magic, allowing him to cast a water spell. Despite his armour Mars is blasted backwards but Asta is impaled by a crystal and collapses.

19 . Destruction And Salvation


Mars experiences a flashback about the girl, named Fana, who hoped one day she would be allowed to go outside. Mars promised her they would see the world together, but they were forced to duel to the death. Mars killed Fana by accident while protecting himself. Fana’s Grimoire was stitched to Mars’ Grimoire, giving him both fire and crystal magic. Mars moves to kill both Asta and Mimosa. Yuno desperately casts a random spell from his Grimoire and time freezes. A tiny elf appears and casts a wind spell that hurls Mars into a wall. Yuno realises the spell from the scroll has appeared in his Grimoire. The dungeon begins to collapse and Lotus is revealed to have taken a large pile of treasure and saved Mars. Mars’ dreams reveal Fana allowed herself to die so Mars could experience life. Mars is deeply affected by his memories. Asta awakens mostly healed and thanks Mimosa, who also develops a crush on him. Klaus apologises for thinking less of them for being commoners and starts treating them like equals. Noelle becomes embarrassed when she realises, like Asta, her clothes are torn and she is half naked so she punishes Asta for peeking.

20 . Assembly Of The Royal Capital


After the dungeon Asta falls asleep for a week. Noelle spends the week worrying about him. They are summoned to Magic Knight Headquarters along with Yuno, Klaus and Mimosa. Mimosa confesses her crush on Asta to Noelle who experiences a moment of jealousy. The Wizard king examines Asta and Yuno’s Grimoire’s. The elf from Yuno’s new spell is Sylph, a wind elemental who serves only one master every era. He also finds that Asta’s swords drain magic from whoever holds them, meaning Asta can wield them because he has no magic to drain. They attend a Knight’s promotion ceremony where knights who have earned enough stars are promoted. The Wizard King promotes several knights including Noelle’s older brother and sister, Solid and Nebra Silva. The Wizard King then leaves Asta, Yuno and their friends alone with the newly promoted knights, who are all arrogant nobles. Asta easily ignores their insults until Noelle’s siblings deliberately embarrass her and her eldest brother, Nozel, tries to force her to leave. Enraged, Asta stands up to them in defence of Noelle. A Golden Dawn noble tries to bury him in sand but Asta slices the spell and repeats his promise to become Wizard King.

21 . Capital Riot


Rades Spirito, a former Magic Knight expelled from his squad plots revenge against the Clover Kingdom. Noelle’s siblings and several other nobles all attack Asta together, furious that he dares stand up to them. Asta is forced to draw both his swords to fight Noelle’s brothers Solid and Nozel. The fight is stopped when Nozel unleashes his mana, freezing everybody with fear, including Asta who he intends to punish himself. Fuegoleon Vermilion, Mimosa’s cousin and captain of the Crimson Lion’s, questions the nobles honour for teaming up to bully Asta. His brother, Leopold, is impressed by Asta and decides to become his rival. This leads to captains Nozel and Fuegoleon both unleashing their mana against each other in a battle of wills. Before any damage can be caused the city is attacked by Rades and his zombie army who are unaffected by damage caused to their bodies and kill numerous citizens and mages. Asta chooses to rush to the front lines to protect the commoners while the nobles split up to protect different parts of the city. Rades is about to kill a little girl but Asta slices through a group of Zombies, totally destroying them, and lunges at Rades.

22 . Wild Magic Dance


Rades knows who Asta is but is still confused that his zombies were destroyed so easily, so he summons even more. The Silver Eagles, Golden Dawn and Crimson Lions begin fighting zombies throughout the city, quickly finding the zombies only stay dead if their bodies are totally destroyed. Asta attacks Rades directly so he summons a more powerful magic wielding zombie called No. 4 Jimmy who shoots Asta in the face with a magic bullet that infects his flesh with bleeding curse magic, making Asta bleed continuously. He parries the next bullets so Jimmy begins firing at the girl instead, forcing Asta to protect her. Noelle sees Asta is in trouble but due to her siblings bullying has lost all confidence in her abilities. Fuegoleon sees this and bangs Noelle on the head as punishment for hesitating, telling her to either work to become stronger or stay weak forever. Noelle realises that is what Asta does every day. She joins Asta in battle, casting her water shield around the girl while Leopold burns away the zombies, allowing Asta to rush straight at Jimmy and destroy him. Enraged, Rades summons No. 2 Alfred who attacks Asta with powerful lightning magic

23 . The Crimson Lion King


Nozel is confused about the lack of enemy strategy. Augustus Kira Clover XIII, the lazy and self-centred King of the Clover Kingdom, who is spending the battle safely with his mistresses in the castle, petulantly demands to know why the Wizard King is not there protecting him. Charmy Papittoson, a young Black Bull obsessed with food, sneaks into the palace kitchen so she can meet the royal chef. Asta cannot match Alfred’s speed so Fuegoleon steps in and burns Alfred to ash. Rades mocks Asta’s dream of becoming Wizard King using only Anti-magic. Fuegoleon is so impressed with Asta he decides to become his rival as well. He takes Asta’s place in the fight so Asta can recover. Rades reveals he used to be in the Purple Orca’s squad but was banished from the Clover Kingdom because his necromancy was considered unnatural. Fuegoleon attacks but Rades summons his strongest corpse, No. 1 Karl and hides behind Karl’s magic shield. Fuegoleon, being more experienced than Rades, blasts a fire bolt through the shields weakest point, destroying Karl and defeating Rades. The city begins to recover but a witch named Catherine flies overhead implying the battle is not over.

24 . Blackout


Noelle and Leopold defeat Rades final zombie, No.3 David. Fuegoleon examines Rades Grimoire and finds that it contains a single page with only one spell, meaning necromancy is all he is capable of. Rades is revealed to have a magic item in his ear transmitting someone’s voice that warns Rades to follow their master’s plan in future. A spell suddenly activates, the zombies having been used to lure Magic Knights into teleportation traps that send almost every Magic Knight in the city to far away locations. Catherine attacks the city and begins draining the mana from every magic user in the city, aging them while her she grows younger. Yuno, who escaped the trap, battles with her and Catherine reveals the invasion was aimed at one person, Fuegoleon Vermillion, who is suddenly transported away to a different location than the other Knights. Yuno is hit by curses stealing his vision and hearing. He almost gives up but he realises that with his sight gone he is more attuned to the flow of mana. He summons Sylph to manipulate all the mana in the city to strike Catherine with a massive hurricane. Meanwhile Fuegoleon is approached by a mage he recognises.

25 . Adversity


Catherine, drained of mana and now elderly, crashes through the wall of the palace kitchen where Charmy is feasting. She desperately tries to drain Charmy’s mana but Charmy, under the impression Catherine wants her food, summons a giant sheep who knocks Catherine through another wall. Catherine’s stolen mana returns to her victims who revert to their normal ages. Charmy’s meal almost falls through the wall as well but it is caught by Yuno, causing Charmy to develop a crush on him. The King demands the battle end soon as the noise is interfering with his nap. Noelle realises the mage who teleported Fuegoleon must be nearby and Asta uncovers him hiding beneath a pile of zombies. The mage, named Valtos, returns Fuegoleon, unconscious with his right arm torn off, meaning the mage Fuegoleon was teleported to is even stronger than a squad captain. Seeing his brother defeated shocks Leopold into near catatonia. Rades tries to escape through Valtos portal but Asta stops him. Rades other allies arrive and surround them. Asta, still suffering from No.4 Jimmy’s bleeding curse, slashes his own body with his swords, removing the curse and readying himself to fight as Rades allies move to attack them.

26 . Wounded Beast


Asta and Leopold battle the mages together. Noelle casts her shield to prevent further harm to Fuegoleon who is slowly dying. Asta and Leopold are impaled by wind needles but are saved by the teleported Magic Knights who worked together to return to the city. Mimosa begins healing Fuegoleon. Rades and the mages flee through a portal, kidnapping Asta. Nozel decides searching for a commoner like Asta is not worth the effort. Solid and Nebra mock Fuegoleon for being defeated. The Magic Knights begin rebuilding the city’s defences while Noelle worries about Asta. Elsewhere Rades and the mages argue about his recklessness. One of the mages, Sally, wants to dissect Asta for his valuable Anti-magic. As they reach their hideout the Wizard King appears from the shadows. They attack him but the Wizard King is so superior in strength and skill he kills two mages effortlessly and captures the rest in seconds. Asta realises just how much he has to learn before becoming Wizard King. The Wizard King expresses interest in a nearby stone tablet inlaid with several jewels, like the one from Saussy village, but a mysterious mage suddenly appears and blinds everybody with intense light magic.

27 . Light


The Light Magic mage disappears with the stone tablet. The Wizard King returns Asta and his remaining prisoner to the city. Noelle is secretly happy he is safe, as are Klaus, Mimosa and Nero. Fuegoleon is revealed to be missing his jewel necklace which the Wizard King suspects is part of the stone tablet, now in possession of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, the group behind the invasion. Nozel swears revenge for Fuegoleon’s injuries. Leopold decides to become Wizard King. The Wizard King concludes one of his Magic Knights must be a traitor. Fuegoleon remains unconscious. Sally begins experimenting on Asta’s blood. The mysterious master is revealed to have been injured by the Wizard King’s Time magic, his right arm aged to that of an old man. He is shown to have thousands of followers. Asta argues with Yuno who responds with a powerful wind attack Asta struggles to nullify. It is shown Sylph, only visible to Yuno, has made his magic even more powerful. At the Black Bull’s hideout Magna has finally earned a star whereas Asta reveals that for defeating the invasion he has been promoted to Junior Magic Knight, Third Class, meaning he now outranks Magna.

28 . The one i've Set My Heart On


Black Bull member Finral Roulacase has organised a mixer party of three women, himself, Asta and Luck. As they leave via Finral’s portal spell Noelle follows then hides, reasoning that she is ensuring Asta doesn’t get in trouble, when really she is jealous of him meeting other girls. At the mixer the ladies are definitely not impressed by Asta, Finral or Luck, deciding Asta is too young and a commoner, Finral is too flashy and Luck is too violent. Noelle is relieved the mixer is a disaster. Nearby Sekke is attending another mixer. Asta is left alone with a young woman named Rebecca Scarlet. After a few uneasy moments they end up bonding over the fact they both have multiple younger siblings, causing Noelle to panic. A large drunk man insults Rebecca so Asta furiously throws him across the room where he lands on Sekke, ruining his mixer. Rebecca develops a crush on Asta but decides to pursue him slowly after learning he loves someone else. Noelle mistakenly thinks Asta has a secret crush on her which makes her happy. Both Finral and Luck are rejected by the other two ladies because of their misunderstood belief of Black Bulls being too violent due to hearing that Asta threw the drunkard onto a table when he was defending Rebecca.
